Reading and Writing Instruction and Explanation Texts

After Christmas we read and identified the features of Instruction and Explanation Texts. We played card games that required us to read the instructions first. We were quick to highlight the use of imperative verbs and time adverbs that helped to structure the information. We also grasped the importance of headings, sub-headings, bullet points, diagrams, pictures, captions and labels that organised the information.
