Reading and Phonics

Library day:

Year 1 go to the school library on a WEDNESDAY.

Children can only change their library book if they have brought their book back.

 

Phonics:

Children do phonics EVERYDAY!

 

Spellings:

Spellings are sent home on FRIDAYS.

The spelling test will be the following FRIDAY (children have a week to learn their spellings.)

 

Reading days:

All books are handed in on WEDNESDAYS (each child will have 2 books.)

All books are sent home on FRIDAYS.

 

SCHOOL EXPECTATIONS FOR READING:

Please read both reading books

Please sign/initial when read. Leaving comments is useful.

Please complete the homework sheet (if your child has Blue, Green or Orange book bands).

Please keep books in book bags at all times. 

 

READING HOMEWORK SHEETS

Please remember to complete any homework in pencil. If you need a new pencil please let me know.

This our phonics board in class that helps the children with their learning. There are 3 phonics groups in Year 1, and each day, the teacher will place what they have been learning on their board to remind the children.
