Year 6(2018)

Welcome to Year 6!

Class teachers – Miss Atherton and Mrs Lee
Support staff – Mrs Marland

Link Governor - Mrs Helen Weston

Year 6 were presented with their own dictionaries today by The Rotary Club of Tameside!

This afternoon, Year 6 ventured out of the classroom and put their SPAG knowledge to good use! They worked in teams and completed a SPAG treasure hunt around school.

Thank you to all of those parents who attended the SAT's meeting on Tuesday Evening! Please see below the Power Point which was discussed. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us on the School's admin email or before/after school.

Thank you,

Miss Atherton & Mrs Lee smiley

Science Weeks - Shadow Theatre

On 9/2/18 we were very fortunate to carry out a workshop and complete 'The 6 Habits Mindset Challenge'. We looked closely at the 6 habits attitude, behaviour, courage, determination, enthusiasm and friendship and discussed how as individuals we are responsible for showing the 6 habits in everything that we do. We had great fun completing the workshop which required us to work as a team and demonstrate each of the 6 habits.

During our Victorian Day we:

  • Dressed up as Victorian children
  • Separated into boys and girls
  • Focussed on the 3 R’s
  • Recited poetry
  • Practised handwriting
  • Wrote on slates using chalk
  • Wore the ‘Dunces’ hat (some of us)
  • Followed Victorian school rules

It was a lot of fun looking at Victorian schooling and we all had a great day dressing up!

Thank you to Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue for coming into school and teaching us how to be safe around Halloween and Bonfire Night. We had great fun learning about Safe4Autumn and really enjoyed trying on all of the different parts of a firefighter's uniform!

Take a look at the Safe4Autumn website for some top tips about staying safe!

Year 6 had a fantastic trip to Safe Squad on Monday learning how to keep themselves safe in some very tricky and dangerous situations.
