Using a number line
We have been learning how to use a number line to help us when adding and taking away.
When adding, we have been putting our finger or pen on the number that comes before the + symbol and jumping forwards the number that comes after the + symbol. The number we land on is our total.
When taking away, we have been putting our finger or pen on the number that comes before the - symbol and jumping back the number that comes after the - symbol. The number we land on is our total.
