Research shows that developing positive mental health and wellbeing is most effective when it takes place early in a child or young person's' life. There is much evidence that pupils learn more effectively, if they are happy in their work, believe in themselves and have good relationships with teachers.
The motto at Audenshaw Primary is 'Putting Children First' and that core value underpins everything that we do. We pride ourselves on delivering an education that focuses on the 'whole child' which encompasses their academic, physical, social and emotional well being. It is a whole school approach to ensure that the children develop the skills and resilience to grow into physically and mentally healthy members of the community.
All staff have completed Everyday Magic, a positivity approach endorsed by the British Psychological Society with strategies to support children in school with dealing with anxiety, building resilience, worries which may be linked to academic or emotional and social issues. Wellbeing Wednesdays are timetabled each Wednesday morning and these strategies are used alongside the PSHE curriculum to enable children to develop the skills necessary to navigate their way through day to day life and situations.
At Audenshaw Primary we understand how important mental health and well being is for all - children, parents and staff.
