Each morning we have English and maths lessons. We study a different English topic each half term and our maths topics last around 2 weeks. We are exploring some interesting topics in English and will be looking at a range of fiction texts and non-fiction writing and language styles. The Year 4 children will be creating their own stories and non-fiction texts to develop their understanding of word classes, literary devices and writing structures. In maths, the children will be developing their prior knowledge and expanding their understanding of maths topics across the curriculum; ncluding, place value, Roman numerals, fractions and multiplication/division. We have a key focus on times tables in Year 4 and we will be practising using TTRS workbooks everyday and playing some fun times tables games each week. You can support your child by encouraging them to use times tables rock stars throughout the week and completing the purple mash times tables activities that will be set for them.
